INDESTRUCTIBLE

"For the director of music. To the tune of “Do Not Destroy.” Of David. A miktam. When he had fled from Saul into the cave. Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed."
(Psalms 57:1 NIV)

David had a simple faith when facing problems, including life-threatening situations. David faced neither plague, economic crisis, nor poverty, but he was hunted by King Saul. King Saul wanted to kill him. He was in constant danger wherever he went, he was a wanted fugitive with a prize on his head. But David guarded his faith to God. David believed that when God is in his boat, it will not sink. Without God’s permission, no one can take away his soul.

Learn to have faith like David: Without God’s permission, nothing will harm you; but if God allows it, then keep your faith in Him. When God allowed David to be a hunting object, he ran away from Saul into the cave.

During this pandemic, let’s maximize our “cave” moments. By God’s permission we have to go through this season, and we’ll discover wisdom and blessings in disguise. Be sure to maximize this season by seeking His face; do not be distracted by other matters. Seek God so that we can bear more fruit, the righteous bear fruit according to its season.

When seeking God in the cave, David did not only ask for God’s mercy, but also actively do his part. David encouraged his soul to take refuge in God, under His wings.

A soul comprises of three things:

  1. Intention – Will
David ensured that his will was aligned with God’s. When he had no idea what to do, David directed free-will to serve God’s will.
  2. Cognition – Mind
During his “cave” moments, David did not spend time worrying about getting killed by Saul, but to penning psalms instead. His mind became productive; he made plans.
  3. Emotion – Feeling
He used his time to worship and glorify God.

God delights in faith like David’s. David’s childlike faith – God is not done with him yet; this storm will pass and all will end beautifully – is indestructible. David had no negative perspective at all regarding his future, for he placed his security in God alone.
